STUART — The Scorpions ended the Red Bears season with a 16-point victory on Friday night. Soper star Zane Nelms rolled his ankle in the third quarter and Boswell built a 10 point lead while he was getting taped. When Nelms returned in the fourth quarter, he was noticably uncomfortable and trying to do his best as Boswell pulled away for the win. The Red Bears were able to get the shots they wanted but they just wouldn’t fall as they shot 9 of 39 from two point range. The game began with them shooting 1 of 12 in the first quarter. “We got the looks but couldn’t hit our shots. Give the Boswell kids credit. They played well,” said Soper coach Parker Harless. Tevin Rhone led Boswell with 21 points and 12 assists. James Ribera had 16 points including six consecutive free-throws late in the fourth quarter to ice the win. “It’s tough. That’s the best team I had at Soper and I sure didn’t expect to be done this early. I’m disappointed but the kids played hard. We’ll keep moving forward and keep our heads up as we look to next year,” Harless said. |
